About
Us We began breeding and raising the rare
and beautiful Accoyo Suri Alpacas after moving to rural Nelson County in
Virginia in 2007. Our ranch is located in the shadows of the Blue Ridge
Mountains and the Shenandoah National Park. We are both retired from NASA, and
this ranch is the fulfillment of a dream to raise and breed the beautiful and
rare Accoyo Suri Alpacas.
Our Goals
To breed alpacas that produce exceptional fiber, have
excellent conformation, and are phenotypical of the Suri breed.
To accomplish our goals we are focusing on three primary
factors;
Genetics-We are breeding quality
Accoyo Suri Alpacas from outstanding lines, such as, Bruxo, Jackpot, Macgyver,
Montoyo, Ramilo, Uribe and Torbio.
Health & Nutrition- Proper
nutrition is essential to the production of high quality fiber and excellent
conformation. We provide the proper nutritional elements which include
well-maintained pastures, quality hay, pure well water, supplements and
minerals. We regularly have the pasture grass, hay, and water analyzed to assure
ourselves that our herd is receiving the proper nutrition.
Environment- Alpacas will flourish in a safe and secure environment, where they are
treated with loving care and respect. We practice the Camelidynamics approach
when handling our alpacas, and we believe that using this approach will minimize
the stress induced during our daily interactions with our alpacas. We are a
small ranch and we will remain small. This enables us to provide individual
attention to the needs and development of each alpaca.
